Way2Health Seasonal Newsletter — Autumn 2025
Oct 12, 2025
Welcome to Autumn Autumn arrives with golden light and cooling air — a season of gathering, reflection, and quiet transformation. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is the time of the Lungs and Large Intestine, organs that help us take in the new and release what no longer serves.
As nature sheds her leaves, we too are invited to simplify — to breathe deeply, eat thoughtfully, and slow our pace. The balance of Yin and Yang shifts inward now; our energy turns to conserving warmth and nurturing inner calm.
Nourish with the Season Dryness is Autumn’s challenge. Moistening foods help protect the lungs and skin while supporting immunity. Try including: Pears, apples, and honey — to soothe the throat and moisten dryness. White fungus, lily bulb, and almond soup — classic TCM remedy for nourishing Yin. Sesame, walnuts, and spinach — to strengthen blood and digestion. Drink warm teas made from chrysanthemum or pear slices instead of chilled beverages, and enjoy warm soups that comfort both body and spirit.
Live in Rhythm with Autumn Wake early, rest early — follow the shortening days. Breathe deeply outdoors — crisp morning air nourishes Lung Qi. Practice gentle movement — Qigong, stretching, or a slow walk at sunset keeps Qi flowing. Declutter and simplify — physical and emotional letting go reflect nature’s rhythm. As the days cool, honor the body’s need for warmth and quiet reflection.
Inner Practice for the Season Take five minutes each evening to sit quietly and follow your breath — feeling the rise and fall in the chest, the space the lungs create. Gratitude strengthens the spirit, and calm breathing nourishes both body and mind.
Autumn teaches us that letting go is not loss, but renewal — a clearing of space for new life to emerge.
Stay Connected Each Solar Term brings a new rhythm, new foods, and new opportunities to live in harmony with nature.
